Auditory Processing Disorder
Fast ForWord is effective for people with auditory processing disorder. The software technology enables sounds to be acoustically modified to a slower speed enabling the brain to process speech sounds (phonemes). As the student’s auditory processing ability improves, the program progressively speeds up the sounds to the pace of natural speech. This form of acoustically modified speech helps student to recognize speech sounds first as isolated sounds with progression to recognizing syllables and words, to connecting strings of words such as a sentence or phrase. What do we mean by Auditory Processing?
Dyslexia and Struggling Readers
Students who have been diagnosed with dyslexia or struggle to read may have a brain morphology that is not wired for efficient learning. Recent research has shown the brain to be plastic and can be "re-wired" for more efficient learning. Fast ForWord does this by by a unique software program that builds the cognitive skills for more efficient learning and develops the reading skills of vocabulary, phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency and comprehension. Further, the use of programs to develop symbol imagery and Gestalt imagery assist in areas of sight word retention, vocabulary building, and reading comprehension.
